Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist to speak at USC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist is speaking at the University of South Carolina on investigating business and government.

David Cay Johnston is speaking Wednesday evening at the auditorium in the USC School of Law on the Columbia campus. The 6:30 p.m. lecture is free and open to the public.

Johnston won the Pulitzer last year for a series of articles in The New York Times about the U.S. tax system and the Internal Revenue System. The stories explained how poor people have a higher chance of being audited than wealthy people.

Johnston retired after 13 years with The Times and began teaching at Syracuse University’s College of Law as a visiting lecturer.
