Police: Woman punches pregnant sister in stomach

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Police say a woman punched her pregnant sister several times in the stomach during an argument, then hit a toddler in the parking lot of a Columbia apartment complex as she tried to get away.

Investigators said the assault on the teen around 1 p.m. Wednesday caused the girl to go into premature labor. Authorities say she was taken to a hospital where she is being treated. The toddler suffered minor injuries.

Police say officers came to the apartments after someone called 911 and said a large crowd was gathered around two women arguing.

Investigators have nor released the woman’s name or determined exactly what she will be charged with.
