Mathematics, magic tricks slated for USC event

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Mathematics and magic are mixing in a mathematics professor’s presentation at the University of South Carolina.
University spokesman Steven Powell says professor Arthur Benjamin is performing feats of mental calculations and mathematical agility in a show Friday evening that is free and open to the public.
Benjamin is a professor of math at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif. He’s appearing in Gambrell Hall for his show called “The Army of Mental Calculation.”
Benjamin has performed across the country and has been featured on numerous radio and television shows.
