SC man sentenced to 10 years for taking $290k
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Boiling Springs man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to taking more than $290,000 from his employer.
Spartanburg County prosecutors say 62-year-old Daniel L. Belcher pleaded guilty to breach of trust.
Prosecutors say Belcher stole the money between 2003 and 2011 while he was office manager at Shipper’s Supply in Spartanburg. They say he wrote unauthorized checks from the company account, made unauthorized charges on the company credit card, used company money to pay his personal credit card, gave himself unauthorized raises and did not deduct the correct health insurance premium from his paycheck.
