Man arrested in shooting death in Latta

LATTA, S.C. (AP) — A man has been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of another man in Latta.

Thirty-eight-year-old Willie Morrison is being held at the Dillon County jail.

Investigators say 56-year-old Jesse Barr was able to identify the suspect after he was shot early Tuesday. Police say Barr walked to a neighbor’s home and they called police. He died about 45 minutes later.

Latta Police Chief Crystal Moore says Barr said the suspect kicked in Barr’s door before he was shot.

Police say Morrison showed up at a Florence hospital for a gunshot wound to the hand.

Moore says officers recovered a gun in Florence and found shell casings in Latta.

It was not clear if Morrison has a lawyer.
