North Augusta woman hit, killed by her own car
NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an 83-year-old woman checking her mail at her North Augusta home has been run over and killed by her own car.
Investigators said Margaret Phillips thought she parked her car in her driveway and went to her mailbox Wednesday evening, but the car was still in gear and rolled down her steep driveway.
Authorities say a neighbor called police after seeing Phillips’ 2006 Lincoln Town Car in her front yard, and officers then found her. She died a short time later at the hospital.
The coroner’s office says Phillips dies from several injuries. The incident is still being investigated.
