Deputies check Sumter middle school fight video

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Sumter County deputies are investigating video of a fight at a middle school that was uploaded to the Internet.

The 38-second clip from the video shows one boy put another boy in a chokehold in a bathroom at Hillcrest Middle School. He then slams the student into the wall and throws him to the floor.

Sheriff Anthony Dennis says the video is real and was taken Thursday. He says there is more to the video than what has been posted to YouTube and his officers are questioning all the students involved. He hopes to decide whether to file charges later Monday.

The school district says the students will be disciplined.

The mother of the boy held an anti-bullying protest with about 10 other people outside the school Monday.
