Gamecocks lose sophomore wide receiver to transfer portal

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The transfers continue for South Carolina in the days following the conclusion of spring ball.

Sophomore wideout Rico Powers is the latest Gamecock to enter his name into the transfer portal prior to the end of the academic year.

Powers, a former four-star wide receiver from Georgia, saw action in 11 games across his two seasons in Columbia. He saw the majority of his playing time on special teams, finishing his time as a Gamecock with four catches for 31 yards.

He only saw the field in two games this past season, hauling in two catches against Kentucky for 12 yards.
