New Lake City market reopens in renovated building

LAKE CITY, S.C. (AP) — State and local officials are reopening the farmers market in the Pee Dee community of Lake City.

State Commissioner of Agriculture High Weathers joins other elected officials Thursday in reopening the market in the National Bean Market building.

The enclosed market will have 40 vendors selling everything from produce and plants to cane syrup, seafood and homemade soap. There will also be musical entertainment and local buses will stop every hour at the market.

The market is in operation Thursdays from April through June and during September and October.
