CPD’s Fan the Heat Program Delivers Cool Relief
COLUMBIA, S.C. ( WOLO) — Officers with the Columbia Police Department were at the scene of Gonzalez Gardens Apartments near downtown Columbia Thursday, but not for a crime. The only villain they were fighting is the heat. Their secret weapon is brand new air conditioning units to residents who need them most. More than 100 low-income public housing families were selected to receive a brand new air conditioning unit, courtesy of CPD’s ‘Fan the Heat’ program. It’s one way officer protect and serve, while providing comfort and safety for residents. CPD partnered with the Columbia Housing Authority, Habitat for Humanity, SEARS, and the State Department of Energy to provide the a/c units. To donate to the Fan the Heat Program or Habitat for Humanity or find out how to qualify for a new a/c unit, call 803-252-3570 or 803-545-3500.
