Gunshots, car chase cause fatal Florence crash

FLORENCE, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say a Florence nurse on her way to work has been killed in a crash by a car that was trying to get away from someone who was firing gunshots from another vehicle.

Investigators said 29-year-old Georgia Woodberry, the driver of the car who was firing the shots Thursday morning, was arrested 30 minutes after the crash and charged with murder.

Authorities say Woodbury was chasing the other car because of a domestic incident the night before.

Investigators say 36-year-old nurse Lori Pruett was killed. The two people in the car being shot at ran a red light, causing the wreck. They were taken to the hospital.

Woodbury was awaiting a bond hearing at the Florence County jail. It wasn’t clear if she had a lawyer.
