Call: Fight preceded Aiken officer’s killing

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Several callers to 911 reported a raucous neighborhood fight shortly before a South Carolina law officer was gunned down and killed last year.

The calls are among several dozen obtained Monday by The Associated Press under the Freedom of Information Act.

Aiken Officer Scotty Richardson died Dec. 21, a day after he was shot in the head during a traffic stop. The calls are not labeled, so it’s not confirmed if Richardson’s voice is heard on the more than two dozen calls.

Also Monday, state police released video from the car chase for the man suspected of gunning down another Aiken officer just weeks after Richardson’s death. Authorities say Joshua Tremaine Jones shot Master Cpl. Sandy Rogers Jan. 28 while Rogers was responding to a call about a suspicious vehicle.
