Haley to pay for SLED details on fundraising trips
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Gov. Nikki Haley’s campaign will reimburse the state for the cost of her security detail during fundraising trips.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported (http://bit.ly/HJRIkd ) that State Law Enforcement Division spokeswoman Kathryn Richardson said Monday that Haley’s campaign will make the payment after the fiscal year ends June 30.
Richardson says the payment will cover security costs from Haley’s first 18 months in office.
Richardson did not have an estimate on what the campaign will pay. But the newspaper reported that a Freedom of Information Act request showed that SLED spent more than $16,000 on security for Haley’s fundraising trips through December.
She was in California, Florida, New York, Texas and Washington, D.C., on those trips.
