Horry County won’t restrict bike festival vendors
CONWAY, S.C. (AP) — Horry County Council has decided against changing the way vendors get permits for the spring motorcycle rallies.
The council had considered new rules that would have regulated setting up and taking down vendor sites, as well as changing permit fees.
Rally supporters and local business owners complained that further restrictions to next months’ events would alienate the biker community.
Tuesday’s decision rejecting the tougher rules means vendors will not face restrictions on how long they can operate. But the rejection also means that fees will not go down this year.
Questions have been raised about this year’s festival because the Myrtle Beach Harley-Davidson rally is set for May 18 to 28 and will overlap part of the nearby Atlantic Beach Bikefest over the Memorial Day weekend..
