Air Force jazz band plays free Summerville concert
JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — The U.S. Air Force Band’s jazz ensemble is scheduled to play a free concert for the public at Summerville High School.
Air Force spokeswoman Trisha Gallaway says the group, known as the Airmen of Note, is slated to perform Friday at 7 p.m.
The show is free and open to the public, and tickets are not required.
The group is performing a variety of selections from modern and classic jazz, swing era favorites and patriotic selections.
The 18-member group was first created in 1950 to carry on the tradition of band leader Glenn Miller, the former major who established the tradition of the Army Air Corps dance band.
