Santee Birding and Nature Festival upcoming

SUMMERTON, S.C. (AP) — Nature field trips, bird watching and wildlife photography are among the highlights of this year’s edition of the Santee Birding and Nature Festival.

The annual three-day event opens with a Friday night banquet in Santee with remarks from Bird Watcher’s Digest editor Bill Thompson.

Other events during the festival include wildlife photography workshops and backyard habitat workshops.

There will also be sessions on fossils, on Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion and field trips to South Carolina’s ACE Basin and Cape Romain.
