Journalist Cokie Roberts speech canceled

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The University of South Carolina has canceled a speech by journalist and author Cokie Roberts to mark the 175th anniversary of the South Caroliniana Library.

School officials canceled the event because of the rain storms and flooding that has killed at least 11 people in South Carolina, as well as closing hundreds of roads and bridges across the state.
