‘Man cave’ shootout: College football gathering turns deadly
TAYLORS, S.C. (AP) — A witness says he was watching college football in a former garage in Taylors with a large group of people when a man began firing at deputies who arrived to serve a warrant, prompting a deadly shootout.
Greenville County sheriff’s spokeswoman Lt. Ty Miller says deputies executing the warrant early Sunday were fired on by a person in the building. Miller says deputies returned fire and the suspect was killed and another man was injured.
Witness Rashad Bennett, a nearby resident, tells The State newspaper (http://bit.ly/1Zu1otB ) that dozens had gathered in the “man cave” to watch football but he didn’t recognize the man killed or the other who was wounded.
Miller didn’t say what the warrant was for and declined to release the names of the deputies or others involved.
