Lemurs and crocs in new exhibit at SC Aquarium
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A new exhibit at the South Carolina Aquarium opening this weekend gives visitors a glimpse of Madagascar.
At Madagascar Journey, visitors to the aquarium in Charleston will be able to see everything from lemurs and a Nile crocodile to giant geckos and parrots.
Aquarium president and CEO Kevin Mills says the aquarium researched what exhibit it wanted in its rotating gallery and that study showed a lot of interest in Madagascar. Mills says the recent animated movies may have helped.
He says the idea was to bring something to South Carolina from around the world. The Madagascar exhibit opens Saturday and will be displayed for three years. The island is home to 250,000 different species.
