USC Women’s Soccer Earns NCAA Tourney Berth

COLUMBIA, SC. (USC SID) — The South Carolina women’s soccer team earned its eighth trip to the NCAA Tournament in the last nine years when the 64-team field was announced Monday afternoon. The Gamecocks will host a first round matchup vs. UNC Wilmington on Friday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at Stone Stadium. “We are thrilled to be home,” said South Carolina head women‘s soccer coach Shelley Smith. “Credit to the (players). We‘ve had a great season and we are rewarded with a home game. To get in the NCAA‘s and have a home game is tremendous.” Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and children (17 and under). Fans can call the ticket office at 1-800-4SC-FANS. The match will also be broadcast live on SEC Network Plus. South Carolina enters the tournament with a 12-4-3 overall record with UNC Wilmington 14-6-1 on the year. South Carolina is 3-0-1 vs. UNC Wilmington in the all-time series. Carolina defeated Wilmington 2-0 on Aug. 23, 2013, the last time the two schools met. The Gamecocks are one of six teams from the SEC to earn a spot in the tournament.
