CPD: Man Wanted for Pointing Gun at Officer

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook is asking for the public’s assistance as the department continues the search for a man accused of pointing a gun at a Columbia Police Officer Thursday night. CPD has outstanding arrest warrants for 27-year-old Ladarius Joye; once captured, he will be charged with pointing and presenting a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. CPD Officers stopped Joye during a traffic stop at the 4000 block of Lester Drive Thursday night. During the traffic stop, Joye is accused of disregarding repeated verbal police commands to make his hands visible. Joye allegedly removed his hands out of the sight of a CPD Officer, grabbed a gun and pointed it at the officer. Then Joye allegedly got out of the car and officers chased after him on foot evading capture. Joye should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about Joye‘s whereabouts are encouraged to contact Crimestoppers by calling CRIME STOPPERS at 888-CRIME-SC or text to CRIMES (274637), and mark the beginning of the message with “TIPSC,” followed by the tip information.
