Gamecock tight end tears ACL, out for season

One Gamecock tight end will miss the entire season after suffering a significant injury.

According to USC head coach Shane Beamer Tuesday, Chad Terrell tore his ACL and is out for the rest of 2022.

“Really hate it for that young man,” Beamer said during a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Terrell’s injury is just the latest obstacle for the tight end. He tore his left ACL in 2019, then his right in 2020.

He’s appeared in 27 games in five years with the Gamecocks, and worked with both the tight ends and receivers during his time in Columbia.

“He’ll still have a role on the team,” said Beamer. “I’ve got so much respect for him. In his sixth year in the program, had to come back from two ACLs, accepted a position change in spring and really excelled in that role as a tight end for us.”

Beamer said Terrell still has not decided on his football future.
