Columbia police chief slated to visit Israel

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) —

Columbia’s top cop is hoping he can pick up some security tips during a trip to Israel.

Police Chief Randy Scott is the only South Carolina representative on the delegation that leaves Saturday. The trip is sponsored by the American Israel Education Foundation.

Scott is one of 21 officers who are learning about U.S.-Israel relations, national security and responding to terrorism. The group is also planning to meet with Israeli government officials and tour a trauma center.
