Arrest in Cab Driver Shooting Two Years Later
NEWBERRY, S.C. (WOLO) — After nearly two years, an arrest is made in a Newberry County shooting of a former cab driver, when the cab driver identifies the man he believes shot him multiple times and left him in a ditch to die. Authorities arrested James Tribble on April 20, and charged him with attempted murder and armed robbery. That’s nearly two years after police suspect he shot a cab driver, Mace Gallman, on July 27, 2009. Investigators prepared a photo lineup that included the suspect and asked the victim to see if the man who shot him was in the lineup of six people, including Tribble. The victim was able to identify Tribble as the man who shot him. At the time, Gallman was a cab driver for C&C Taxi, now Trinity Taxi. Officials with the family-owned business say the shooting led to permanent changes in its safety procedures. Newberry County authorities say they are still looking for a second suspect, an accomplice, in the shooting. They urge anyone with information to contact the Newberry County Sheriff’s Office at 803-321-2222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
