No Child Left Behind-SC, Delay
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ South Carolina will delay until February a request for a waiver from the federal No Child Left Behind law.
The state Education Department had planned to request the break from the federal law in November. Agency spokesman Jay Ragley said Monday that will give the agency more time to gather data and see how other states file their requests.
Dad Killed While Walking Alongside Bike-Riding Son
PICKENS, S.C. (AP) _ A father walking alongside his 12-year-old son as he rode his bike in Pickens County has been struck and killed by an SUV.
Authorities said 38-year-old Michael Cummings died a short time after he was struck around 6:15 p.m. Friday on a rural road about six miles north of Pickens.

Kershaw Deputies Investigate Shooting
At approximately 2:30 am Sunday morning Kershaw County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene of a shooting in the Lugoff community.
One individual had been shot three times and died as a result of those injuries. Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews says that deputies were dispatched to a residence located at 63 Trinity School Rd. in Lugoff, SC following reports of a shooting.
