Hoke: Different Going Against Gators

After Thursday’s USC football practice, Gamecocks co-defensive coordinator addressed coaching against Florida, where he formerly helped coach at the end of the Steve Spurrier Gators era.
“I had a great three years there. I was around a bunch of great coaches and a lot of great players that I’m still in contact with. I have very fond memories of Florida so it’s going to be different going against them.”

Thornwell Makes Preseason All-SEC 2nd Team

The Southeastern Conference unveiled its 12th annual men’s basketball coaches preseason All-SEC teams on Thursday, where it was announced that South Carolina junior guard Sindarius Thornwell was named to the second team. It marks the second-straight season that Thornwell has garnered second-team preseason honors from the coaches.

Benedict Excited About New Season

After losing five seniors from last season’s SIAC championship team, the 2015-16 season might be considered a rebuilding year for the Benedict College men’s basketball team. But head coach Fred Watson said this year’s Tiger squad is hungry for a repeat performance.

USC Sand Volleyball Gives Court New Name

The South Carolina beach volleyball program announced Thursday that it will rename its facility Wheeler Beach, in honor of the generosity of Jon and Kim Wheeler. Opened in 2014, the five-court facility was the first in the SEC and is among the finest in all of collegiate beach volleyball.

Spencer Joins Clemson Basketball

Head coach Brad Brownell and his staff added to the Clemson men’s basketball roster late in the day on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period. Scott Spencer, a 6-foot-6 wing from Suffolk, Va., signed a national letter of intent to play for the Tigers beginning in 2016-17. Spencer is listed as the nation’s No. 24 small forward prospect by ESPN.
