The South Carolina volleyball team will open its 2015 season this weekend as it hosts the Gamecock Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Carolina Volleyball Center.
Terry Labonte, who will be inducted into the 2016 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, will serve as Grand Marshal for the Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The South Carolina Gamecocks were back on the practice fields Wednesday afternoon as they continued their preseason camp. Many of the younger players were dressed in black jerseys as the scout team to help the first- and second-team units prepare for North Carolina.

The University of South Carolina held a two-hour workout Tuesday afternoon at the practice fields. Highlighting the afternoon was the news that South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier had named sophomore quarterback Connor Mitch the starter for the season opener on Thursday, Sept. 3 vs. North Carolina.

Nine days away from kicking off his 11th season in charge of Gamecock football, Steve Spurrier announced redshirt sophomore Connor Mitch will be his starting quarterback.
Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday D.J. Reader will be taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The senior was listed as a starting defensive tackle and was one of the two players Swinney took to the ACC’s preseason media event this summer.
