USC Softball Falls to No. 13 UCF

No. 13/14 UCF (49-7) pitchers tossed six shutout innings, and three unearned runs helped the Knights claim a 4-1 victory over South Carolina in the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional at the Seminole Softball Complex at JoAnne Graf Field.

South Carolina scored a combined eight runs in the sixth and seventh innings on the way to a 10-7 victory over No. 1 LSU on Thursday night. The Gamecocks improve to 32-22 and 13-15 in the SEC while the loss drops The Tigers to 44-9 and 19-8 in league play.

Tigers Take Out FSU 4-1 In Series Opener

Matthew Crownover allowed just one run on five hits in 7.0 innings pitched to lead Clemson to a 4-1 win at No. 8 Florida State at Dick Howser Stadium on Thursday night. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the series, improved to 29-25 overall and 14-13 in the ACC. The Seminoles fell to 37-17 overall and 17-11 in ACC play. With the victory, Clemson clinched its spot in the ACC Tournament, which will be held next week at Durham (N.C.) Bulls Athletic Park.

Clemson Golf In 3rd After Opening Regional Round

Billy Kennerly fired a five-under-par 67 on Thursday, the second best round in the field of 75 golfers, to lead Clemson to a 284 team score and a tie for third place after the first round of the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional. The top five teams in the 13-team field after Saturday’s third round will advance to the NCAA Championship in Bradenton, Fla on May 29.

Gamecocks Get Big Chance Vs. #1 LSU

South Carolina (31-22, 12-15 SEC) closes out the SEC regular season with a three-game series vs. top ranked LSU (44-8, 19-7 SEC). Thursday’s first pitch is at 7 p.m. on the SEC Network. Friday’s game is at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU. The series finale is slated for Saturday at 8 p.m. on the SEC Network.
