CHADBOURN, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Mudcats baseball team has finally arrived in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after an early morning wreck sent several players to the hospital.

South Carolina belted out 18 hits en route to a 17-0 victory over USC Upstate on Tuesday night at Carolina Stadium. The Gamecocks improve to 31-22 while the loss drops the Spartans to 15-35.
Slugfest! Clemson Beats Furman 23-15

Golf Pays Off For HBC Foundation
The HBC Foundation received a $25,000 gift in recognition of Team South Carolina’s participation in last week’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament. The South Carolina duo of head football coach Steve Spurrier and former Gamecocks and Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe earned a total of $50,000 in winnings, which the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl will split between the HBC Foundation and an endowed scholarship at the University of South Carolina.

Staley Receives Jeffries Ambassador Award
University of South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley received the Willie Jeffries Ambassador for Sports Award at the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame annual banquet and induction ceremony Monday night at the Columbia Metro Convention Center. She is the fifth recipient of the award and the second from the University, joining then-baseball head coach Ray Tanner.
