Mooney Named SEC Player Of The Week

South Carolina junior infielder Marcus Mooney earned SEC Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Monday. Mooney returned from a hamstring injury and had a phenomenal weekend in College Station. Mooney hit .700 (7-for-10) in the Texas A&M series with three runs scored, two doubles, a homer and five RBI. He also walked three times.

USC Softball Makes NCAA Tournament

South Carolina earned a bid into the 2015 NCAA Softball Tournament, advancing for the second-straight year to the Tallahassee Regional, which is set to begin on Friday at Joanne Graf Field. The Gamecocks take on American Athletic Conference champ UCF on the opening day, with game times to be determined.

Epic Series Ends in USC Victory

Kyle Martin homered and drove in four runs and South Carolina belted out 12 hits on the way to an 8-7 win over second ranked Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon in the rubber game of a three-game SEC series at Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. The Gamecocks improve to 30-22 and 12-15 in the SEC with the Aggies now 42-9 and 17-9 in the SEC.

Virginia Ends USC’s Season

The 29th-ranked South Carolina women’s tennis team suffered a narrow 4-2 loss to No. 8 Virginia on Sunday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville, Va. The Gamecocks ended the season with a 15-11 record.

Georgia Southern Drops Clemson on Senior Day

Ryan Cleveland’s two-out single in the seventh inning scored Kody Adams for the go-ahead run in Georgia Southern’s 7-4 win over Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles, who snapped Clemson’s 11-game winning streak in the series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, improved to 28-23. The Tigers, who won the series 2-1, fell to 27-25.

Clemson Slides Past Georgia Southern, 5-4

Chris Okey’s solo homer in the eighth inning lifted Clemson to a 5-4 win over Georgia Southern at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday night. The Tigers, who took a 2-0 lead in the series, improved to 27-24, while the Eagles fell to 27-23. The win was Jack Leggett’s 950th as Clemson’s head coach.
