Vandy Crushes Carolina 12-0 In Series Opener

Carson Fulmer worked seven scoreless innings while striking out nine batters and allowing just three hits and fourth ranked Vanderbilt belted out 10 hits in a 10-0 win over South Carolina on Thursday night. The Commodores improve to 29-10 and 12-4 in the SEC while the loss drops the Gamecocks to 23-16 and 6-10 in league play.

Chicago Picks Welch 22nd In WNBA Draft

South Carolina senior Aleighsa Welch was the 22nd overall pick in the second round of the WNBA Draft 2015 presented by State Farm tonight, becoming the fifth Gamecock all-time to be selected. The first of head coach Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks to be taken in the WNBA Draft, Welch joins Jocelyn Penn (1st round, 2003), Petra Ujheyli (2nd round, 2003), Shaunzinski Gortman (1st round, 2002) and Teresa Geter (3rd round, 2002) as the program’s all-time selections.

Clemson Alters Weekend Schedule With Duke

Due to forecasted inclement weather Sunday, the Clemson vs. Duke series at Doug Kingsmore Stadium this weekend has been altered. The two teams are now scheduled to conclude the series with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2 p.m., with 45 minutes in between games. Friday’s series opener is still scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

Tigers Take Out Gardner-Webb 7-5

Clate Schmidt pitched 7.0 strong innings to lead Clemson to a 7-5 victory over Gardner-Webb at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Wednesday night. The Tigers improved to 20-18, while the Runnin’ Bulldogs fell to 17-20.

USC Welcomes Defending National Champs

South Carolina (23-15, 6-9 SEC) hosts fourth ranked Vanderbilt (28-10, 11-4) in a three-game SEC series with at Carolina Stadium. Thursday’s series opener will be televised on ESPNU with fist pitch set for 7:30 p.m. Friday’s contest is slated for 7 p.m. on the SEC Network while Saturday’s game will be televised on ESPN 2 at 1 p.m. All three games can be heard on the Gamecock IMG Network including flagship station, 107.5 FM, “The Game.”

USC Men Ready To Tee Off SEC Championship

The sixth-ranked South Carolina men’s golf team begins postseason play this weekend at the SEC Championship. The 54-hole event will be contested Friday through Sunday on the par-70, 7,055-yard Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga.
