USC Women Roll Over Savannah St. 81-48

After struggling to find its way in the first half, top-seeded South Carolina proved to be too much for Savannah State down the stretch, pulling away with a 21-1 second-half run sparked by back-to-back steals from Khadijah Sessions, for a 81-48 win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday evening at Colonial Life Arena. The Gamecocks (31-2) shot a Dawn Staley-era high 64.2 percent (34-of-53) from the field, and freshman A’ja Wilson narrowly missed a double-double, leading South Carolina with 15 points and nine rebounds.

New Faces Get Work On USC Offensive Line

Rain in the Columbia area forced the University of South Carolina football team indoors on Thursday afternoon. The squad practiced in helmets and shorts in its second workout of the spring.

Offensive line coach Shawn Elliott is playing short-handed this spring, as seniors Brandon Shell and Mike Matulis are both sidelined with injuries. Elliott will also have to replace the left side of the line, as both left tackle Corey Robinson and left guard A.J. Cann, are expected to be taken in the NFL Draft. “That gives us a chance to give D.J. Park a look at both tackle (positions). It gives a lot of those young guys much needed work, which is what we try to do in the spring anyway,” said Elliott.
