Newberry’s Parker Signs Big NFL Deal

Former Newberry College football star Ron Parker has re-signed with the Kansas City Chiefs as officially announced by the team Monday morning.

The Chiefs do not release contract information, but sources report that the multiple position defensive back’s new contract is good for $30 million over the next five years.

Clemson’s Berger Makes Tennis Hall Of Fame

Former Clemson men’s tennis player Jay Berger will be inducted into the ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame as part of its class of 2015, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced last week. The enshrinement ceremony for Berger and the five other members of the class is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, and takes place during the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships hosted by Baylor in Waco, Texas.

Benedict Falls in NCAA Tournament

Florida Southern, the nation’s top-ranked NCAA Division II men’s basketball team, used several large runs to pull away and defeat the Benedict College Tigers 89-68 in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament.
