Mitchell Finalist For Dawn Staley Award

The Phoenix Club of Philadelphia has announced that South Carolina junior Tiffany Mitchell is one of four finalists for the 2015 Dawn Staley Award. In its third season, the Dawn Staley Award recognizes the nation’s best guard in Women’s Division I college basketball, exemplified by skills that Staley possessed – ball handling, scoring, ability to distribute and will to win. Mitchell was one of three finalists for the award last season. The award recipient will be announced during the weekend of the Final Four and honored at a ceremony at the prestigious Union League of Philadelphia on Fri., Apr. 17.

NCAA Women’s Tickets On Sale Friday

After earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament with Sunday’s SEC Tournament championship, South Carolina has an opportunity to host NCAA Tournament first- and second-round games at Colonial Life Arena the weekend of March 20. In anticipation of that possibility, the South Carolina Athletics Ticket Office announces that tournament booklets will go on sale to the general public on Fri., March 13, at 10 a.m.

Gamecocks Head To SEC Tournament

Mitchell And Wilson Up For Wooden Award

Junior Tiffany Mitchell and freshman A’ja Wilson are two of 15 student-athletes to earn a spot on the John R. Wooden Award Women’s Ballot, The Los Angeles Athletic Club has announced. Selected by the Wooden Award National Advisory Board, all 15 on the ballot are eligible for college basketball’s most prestigious honor.

USC Baseball Hosts Penn St.

South Carolina (12-3) begins a two-game series on Tuesday hosting Penn State (1-8) at Carolina Stadium. Both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s games are set for 7 p.m. This is South Carolina’s first meeting vs. the Nittany Lions on the baseball diamond since 1912.

Proveaux Fires Clemson Record 63

Junior Cody Proveaux shot a school record tying 63 to lead the Clemson golf team to a record team round of 265 in the second round of the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon. All five Clemson golfers shot in the 60s for the second round, a first in Clemson men’s golf history.

Spurrier Sets USC Spring Schedule

The University of South Carolina’s 2015 spring football practice dates and times have been set. The Gamecocks are slated to open their spring drills on Tuesday, March 17, and conclude with the annual Garnet & Black Spring Game on Saturday, April 11.
