Wilson Leads USC To Big Win Over LSU, 86-62

No. 1/2 South Carolina shot 63.3 percent in the first half to build a lead LSU could not overcome in an 86-62 win Thursday night at Colonial Life Arena. A’ja Wilson scored a game- and career-high 26 points to pace the Gamecocks (23-1, 11-0 SEC) while Aleighsa Welch was tops on the glass for the third-straight game with nine rebounds and dished out a career-high tying five assists.

Clemson Co-Offensive Coordinators Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott have been ranked among the top 25 recruiters in the nation according to the Rivals.com website. It is the first time Clemson has had two assistant coaches make the national list in the same year.

Gamecocks Picked To Finish 3rd In East

South Carolina has been predicted to finish third in the SEC Eastern Division as voted by the league’s 14 baseball coaches in the 24th-annual Preseason Coaches Poll. In addition, junior infielders DC Arendas and Max Schrock were preseason first-team All-SEC selections with senior first baseman Kyle Martin and sophomore utility player Taylor Widener preseason second-team All-SEC choices.

The 123rd season of South Carolina baseball begins on Friday as the Gamecocks host College of Charleston for a three-game series. First pitch on Opening Day is 4 p.m. at Carolina Stadium with Saturday’s game at 1 p.m. and Sunday’s series finale at 2 p.m.
