No. 1/1 South Carolina used a pair of runs in the first half and a pair of double-doubles to power past Central Michigan 80-45 Saturday afternoon in the Subway Classic at University of Minnesota’s Williams Arena. Junior Tiffany Mitchell led five scorers in double figures with 18 points, while Alaina Coates and Elem Ibiam each added a double-double to secure the win. Now at 11-0 on the season, the Gamecocks are enjoying the best start in school history.

Clemson Mourns Death Of Doug Thomas

Former Clemson football and track athlete Doug Thomas died of a heart attack on Friday at a hospital in Charlotte, N.C. A high school football coach in the Charlotte area, Thomas was 45-years-old.

Coker Up Next For Carolina Hoops

South Carolina hosts Coker College on Sunday in the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Gamecocks ride a current four-game win streak into the matchup, while the Cobras have lost their last three. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network+ with Andy Demetra and Hall of Famer Alex English on the call for the 3:30 p.m. tip time. Sunday’s game promotion is the ugly sweater game, Coach Martin and his staff will all wear ugly sweaters on the sideline.
