Newberry Knocks Off Carson-Newman 46-21

The Newberry College football team used short fields to advantage early and made key defensive plays late on the way to an emphatic 46-21 win over No. 24 Carson-Newman in the Wolves’ home finale at Setzler Field on Saturday.

Georgia Blows Out Kentucky 63-31

Hutson Mason threw a career-best four touchdown passes, Nick Chubb rushed for 170 yards and a TD and Georgia (No. 17 AP, No. 20 CFP) steamrolled Kentucky 63-31 on Saturday.

Coming off last week’s loss to Florida that knocked the Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2 Southeastern Conference) from the playoff picture, they responded with their second-highest point total this season to remain in the East division hunt.

Ole Miss Pounds Presbyterian 48-0

The Presbyterian College football team dropped its final Football Bowl Subdivision game on Saturday, falling to No. 11 Ole Miss on Saturday afternoon in a 48-0 result.

The Blue Hose move to 5-5 on the year and head to Gardner-Webb next Saturday for a noon kickoff in the team’s regular season finale on the American Sports Network. Ole Miss improves to 8-2 and play at Arkansas in two weeks.

Tigers Tip Off Season Against Anderson

The men’s basketball program will hold its only public exhibition Saturday at 5 p.m. in Littlejohn Coliseum. Clemson hosts Anderson University, with admission free of charge. The game follows the women’s exhibition against Georgia State College and University at 2 p.m. Tickets are on sale for the regular season at ClemsonTigers.com or by calling 1-800-CLEMSON. The Tigers open the regular season at home on Friday, Nov. 14 against Florida A&M.
