Lattimore Finally Gets NFL “Big Moment”

Running back Marcus Lattimore is ready to return to the practice field at last, ready to forget the devastating knee injuries, surgeries and countless hours of rehab.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday that Lattimore would be on the field beginning Wednesday, starting the team’s 21-day window to determine whether to activate him to the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.
“A big moment,” Lattimore said Monday.

Vols Starting QB For USC Up In The Air

Tennessee’s depth chart reflects the uncertain status of its quarterback situation heading into Saturday’s game with South Carolina.

The Volunteers’ starting quarterback is listed as senior Justin Worley or sophomore Nathan Peterman or sophomore Joshua Dobbs. Peterman started last week’s 34-20 loss to Alabama in place of an injured Worley. Dobbs entered the game on Tennessee’s third series and remained in the rest of the way.

Anthony Semifinalist For Butkus Award

Clemson linebacker Stephone Anthony is one of 15 semifinalists for the 2014 Dick Butkus Award. The honor goes to the top linebacker in college football each year. Anthony and Denzel Perryman of Miami are the only ACC players among the final 15.

Lakip Earns National Weekly Kicking Award

Clemson kicker Ammon Lakip has been named a Groza Award Star of the Week by the Lou Groza Award Committee of Palm Beach, Fla. Each week the committee recognizes the top three kickers in the country. In addition to Lakip, Jaden Oberkrom of TCU and Matthew McCrane of Kansas State were also named.

Police Investigating FSU RB

The Tallahassee Police Department has confirmed Florida State starting running back Karlos Williams is being investigated for an alleged domestic battery incident.

Police received the case Saturday night and assigned it to the Criminal Investigation Division.

Williams Will Play Thursday Night

Panthers coach Ron Rivera says running back DeAngelo Williams has informed him he’s “ready to roll” for Thursday night’s home game against the New Orleans Saints.

Williams has missed six games this season due to injuries, including Carolina’s 13-9 loss to Seattle on Sunday.
