AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Nick Marshall ran for three touchdowns and passed for a score and No. 5 Auburn beat South Carolina 42-35 to survive a scare from the Gamecocks after Steve Spurrier made a succession of gambles that paid off.

South Carolina went into Jordan-Hare Stadium and pushed No. 4 Auburn to the brink in a shootout, but ultimately came up short, falling 42-35, as redshirt senior quarterback Dylan Thompson tied a school record with five touchdown passes and threw for 402 yards.
