Spurrier Tuesday Soundoff:Missouri

According to Steve Spurrier, his team did not play well last week in a 48-34 win at Vanderbilt. But at his weekly press conference Tuesday the Ball Coach admits his Gamecocks have won a lot of games not playing particularly well.

Spurrier goes into this Saturday’s match-up with defending SEC East champion Missouri with an 80-40 career record at South Carolina.

Swinney Moving On After FSU Heartbreak

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has his head held high and believes his Tigers should, too, despite their 1-2 start.

Swinney said Tuesday Clemson played well and with purpose in a 23-17 overtime loss at No. 1 Florida State last Saturday. Swinney was as frustrated as anyone with the Tigers’ mistakes _ two missed field goals, a high snap over the quarterback’s head on the FSU 1, a late fumble with Clemson driving for the go-ahead score _ but believes there’s a bigger picture to see about where the team is headed this season.

Gamecock Hoops Finalizes Schedule

Game times and television details have been finalized for nearly all of South Carolina’s remaining games, including all of the to-be-determined game times during the SEC season. All of Carolina’s contests with set game times will be broadcast this season.

More TV Details For USC Women’s Hoops

South Carolina women’s basketball will play a total of 18 regular-season games on television in 2014-15, including nine on the ESPN family of networks and seven on the newly launched SEC Network. Another five games will air on SEC Network +, only on WatchESPN through participating TV providers.

Tolbert Out At Least 8 Games

Panthers All-Pro fullback Mike Tolbert will miss at least eight games with a hairline fracture in his left leg.

Tolbert was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list Tuesday. Under that designation, Tolbert can practice after six weeks, but isn’t eligible to play until Nov. 30 at Minnesota.

USC-Kentucky Game Time Set

The South Carolina-Kentucky football game, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 will kick at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on the SEC Network, it was announced by the league office today.

Watson Earns ACC Weekly Honors

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week. This past Saturday evening Watson came off the bench and completed 19-28 passes for 266 yards in a 23-17 overtime loss at number-one ranked Florida State.
