Green, Lammons cleared to join Gamecocks

Two members of South Carolina’s 2014 signing class were approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse Wednesday. Four-star cornerback signees Chris Lammons and Wesley Green will begin practicing with the team on Friday when the Gamecocks open fall practice.

Downey Leads Team To SC Pro Am Title

Devan Downey has what Dabo Swinney wants — bragging rights in the state of South Carolina for the next year.

Tuesday night the former Gamecock star led his team to a win in the championship game of the SC pro am summer league. Downey took over in midway through the 2nd half and helped his team win 113-100. The 4th leading scorer in USC hoops history scored 26 points in the game.

Quick Start To Season For SC State & Benedict

With a month before the kickoff to the season-opener Palmetto Capital City Classic between Benedict College and South Carolina State University, both head coaches are starting to get serious.

At Tuesday’s press conference to officially announce the game and the week-long list of activities leading up to the contest, South Carolina State head coach Buddy Pugh, normally one to deliver plenty of jokes and barbs, was slightly more subdued than usual. And Benedict College head coach James Woody was his usual in-season focus and determination mode.

Martin Wraps Up 8K In 8 Days Campaign

Gamecock head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin attended Academy Sports + Outdoors’ Back-To-School Donation Event on Tuesday morning at the newest Academy location in the midlands, near the Harbison shopping district. The event was the final community outreach event of the “8K In 8 Days Campaign” for Gamecock men’s basketball.
