Georgia Game Huge For USC Division Hopes

It’s a surprising SEC East statistic, but one that’s held true the last three years. The winner of the South Carolina-Georgia game hasn’t gone on to win the division title.

Steve Spurrier says if the Gamecocks have any hopes of winning the SEC East this year, Saturday’s game against Georgia is a must-win.

Spurrier Has Strict Policy On Domestic Abuse

Steve Spurrier doesn’t understand why it’s taken so long for the rest of the football world to treat domestic violence like he has for at least a decade.

Spurrier was asked about the recent Ray Rice situation at his weekly press conference Tuesday.

“I’ve had a rule here, ever since I’ve been (at South Carolina the last ten years). If you ever hit a girl you’re not going to play on our team. You’re finished.”

Steele Out 8 Weeks With Knee Injury

South Carolina head men’s basketball coach Frank Martin announced on Tuesday that junior forward Brian Steele has suffered a right knee injury. The Greenville, S.C., native underwent surgery last week and is expected to miss eight weeks. Steele suffered the injury during workouts.

USC Announces Football/Hoops Ticket Deal

The University of South Carolina Athletic Department has announced a football/basketball combo ticket package today, which includes one ticket to the football game versus South Alabama (Nov. 22), the men’s basketball game versus Clemson (Dec. 19) and the women’s basketball game versus Southern California (Nov. 15). Cost for the package is just $39.

Clowney Has Surgery, Out 4-6 Weeks

No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday and will be out 4-6 weeks.

Coach Bill O’Brien said he didn’t know exactly what was repaired in Clowney’s knee.

Clowney was injured late in the second quarter in Sunday’s win over the Washington Redskins. He has struggled to stay on the field since joining the Texans.

Scott Earns ACC Weekly Rookie Honors

Clemson freshman receiver Artavis Scott has been named ACC Receiver of the Week. Scott joins Charlie Whitehurst (2002 vs. Duke), James Davis (2005 vs. South Carolina) and Sammy Watkins (2011 vs. Auburn, Florida State and Maryland) as Tiger freshmen who were honored for ACC weekly awards other than Rookie of the Week in the last 15 years.
