Former Dutch Fork high school standout Nick Pappas and USC pitcher Wil Crowe earned Freshman All-American honors from Baseball America Monday.
South Carolina right-handed pitcher Wil Crowe earned second-team Freshman All-America honors as announced by Baseball America on Monday. In his first season, Crowe went 8-3 in 15 starts with a 2.75 ERA in 91.2 innings pitched.
Former Clemson All-American Ben Martin qualified for The Open Championship on Sunday when he finished tied for third at the Quicken Loan National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland.

(WOLO) — Connor Shaw proudly throws up his palm while posing for pictures with Gamecock fans these days. USC’s all-time winningest quarterback is especially proud of the five straight wins Carolina football owns against in-state rival Clemson.
Shaw just never thought he’d have to wear orange.
The man who proudly donned the garnet and black in college wore orange and black cleats at his MVP football camp Saturday in Charleston. Shaw says he’s still trying to get used to the colors of his new NFL team, the Cleveland Browns.
“I walked in the locker room, and I saw my name, and it was pretty surreal,” Shaw told WCIV. “But then you look at that orange helmet, and you’re like, ‘Oh, man! I got to get used to that.'”

Connor Shaw says he’s happy to be back home in Columbia. He’s also looking forward to a future in Cleveland.
Shaw came back to Columbia Friday night and signed autographs at the grand opening of the Palmetto Moon store at the Village at Sandhills. Proceeds went to support the Children’s Chance charity.
Shaw will host a football camp in Charleston Saturday.

The University of South Carolina placed 35th among 297 total teams in the final 2013-14 Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings, it was announced today. The finish was the highest for Carolina since the 2006-07 season and 12 spots better than it’s 47th finish last year.
