San Fran Shooter Transfers To Clemson

Avry Holmes, a 6-2 guard for the University of San Francisco the past two seasons, has signed an aid agreement to transfer to Clemson. Head Coach Brad Brownell made the announcement Monday. Per NCAA rules, Holmes is required to sit out the 2014-15 season but has two seasons of eligibility remaining, beginning in 2015-16.

Clemson Golf Heads To Illinois Regional

The Tigers received a bid to the NCAA Men’s Golf Tournament for the 33rd consecutive year on Monday. Clemson is one of 14 teams competing at the Illinois Regional (Sugar Grove, Ill.) at Rich Harvest Farms. It is one of six regional sites across the country held May 15-17.

South Carolina Baseball Notebook

South Carolina won one of three games this past weekend at Georgia. The Gamecocks are now 35-13 and 13-11 in the SEC with eight games left in the regular season. South Carolina is third in the SEC East and tied for sixth overall in the league with six conference games remaining.

USC Drops Series To UGA

Daniel Nichols’ two-out grand slam in the bottom of the third inning helped lift Georgia to a 5-3 victory over seventh ranked South Carolina in the rubber game of a three-game SEC baseball series on Sunday afternoon at Foley Field. South Carolina is now 35-13 and 13-11 in the SEC with Georgia improving to 23-23-1 and 9-14-1 in league play.

Tigers Top UNLV 6-2 Sunday

Steve Wilkerson’s solo homer in the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and the senior added a two-run single in the seventh inning as Clemson defeated UNLV 6-2 Sunday afternoon at Fluor Field. The Tigers (28-19) took a 1-0 lead in the two-game series against the Rebels (29-17) in the first meeting between the two schools since 2001.
