South Carolina Baseball Notebook

South Carolina (42-14, 18-12 SEC) will open the SEC Tournament on Wednesday, May 21 vs. the winner of Tuesday night’s No. 5 Mississippi State-No. 12 Georgia game. The Gamecocks are seeded fourth for the second consecutive year at the SEC Tournament. Wednesday’s game is the final game of the evening and will start 30 minutes following the conclusion of the third game of the day that starts at 5:30 p.m. ET. The game can be heard on the Gamecock IMG Network including flagship station 107.5 FM, “The Game.” It will also be televised on CSS and streamed online on ESPN3.

USC Starts SEC Tourney With MSU/UGA Winner

Coming off a big series win at Vanderbilt to finish up the regular season 42-14 overall and 18-12 in the SEC, Carolina baseball enters this week’s SEC tournament as the #4 seed and gets a first round bye.
The Gamecocks will play their first game in Hoover, AL late Wednesday night against the winner of Mississippi St. and Georgia.
If USC wins its first game it will play in the late game again Thursday.
If the Gamecocks lose their opener they will play Thursday afternoon in an elimination game.

Clemson Starts ACC Tourney With Duke

With its dramatic 10-9 win over Boston College on Saturday, Clemson (34-22) earned the No. 5 seed in the ACC Tournament at NewBridge Bank Park in Greensboro, N.C. The Tigers face No. 4 seed Duke on Wednesday at 11 a.m., No. 1 seed Miami (Fla.) on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the winner of the Georgia Tech/Wake Forest play-in game Friday at 3 p.m. All three games will be televised live by Regional Sports Network. The Tigers do not play Saturday.

Watkins Off To A Good Start In Buffalo

Sammy Watkins has one rule when it comes to playing receiver. It’s on him to catch anything within his reach. If that’s the case, then Buffalo Bills’ rookie first-round draft pick was perfect in Saturday when the team opened a three-day minicamp.

South Florida Ends USC Softball Season

South Carolina held a lead most of the game, but USF proved its mettle by coming back with two in the seven to take a 3-2 victory to move to Sunday’s championship games in the Tallahassee Regional, ending the Gamecocks’ season with a 35-22 record.

USC Golf Makes NCAA Championship

The fourth-seeded South Carolina men’s golf team punched its ticket to the NCAA Championship for a second-straight year with a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Eugene Regional at Eugene Country Club on Saturday.

Big Clemson Comeback Salvages BC Series

Jay Baum’s double to right-center on an 0-2 pitch with two outs in the 13th inning plated Garrett Boulware for the walkoff run in Clemson’s 10-9 victory over Boston College at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers (34-22, 15-14 ACC) won the series 2-1 against the Eagles, whose season ended at 22-33 overall and 10-20 in the ACC.
