Miami Tops Tigers 3-2 Saturday

Tyler Palmer’s double in the 12th inning scored the go-ahead run to lift #11 Miami (Fla.) to a 3-2 victory over No. 20 Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Saturday night. The Hurricanes (31-13, 18-5 ACC) took a 2-0 lead in the series over the Tigers (25-18, 12-10 ACC).

Gamecocks Fall 2-1 To Alabama

South Carolina sophomore left-hander Jack Wynkoop and Alabama junior left-hander Justin Kamplain competed in a pitcher’s duel with the eighth-ranked Crimson Tide breaking a 1-1 tie with a run in the seventh on the way to a 2-1 win over the eighth-ranked Gamecocks.

Gamecocks Top Tide 9-3 In Series Opener

Eighth-ranked South Carolina pounded out 10 hits en route to a 9-3 victory over eight-ranked Alabama on Friday night at Carolina Stadium. This is the fifth-straight game that the Gamecocks have tallied 10 or more hits. South Carolina improves to 33-10 on the year and 11-8 in SEC play while the loss drops Alabama to 28-14 and 12-7 in the league.

Junior lefthander Chris Diaz tossed 7.2 strong innings to lead No. 11 Miami (Fla.) to a 5-2 victory over No. 20 Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Friday night. The Hurricanes (30-13, 17-5 ACC) took a 1-0 lead in the series against the Tigers (25-17, 12-9 ACC).

Tigers 3rd After ACC Tourney 1st Round

Sophomore Miller Capps fired an opening round 69 on Friday to lead Clemson to a 289 team score and a third-place standing after the first round of the ACC Men’s Golf Tournament at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C. The event will continue Saturday morning with the second round. The tournament concludes on Sunday at the par 72 course.

USC Winter Honor Roll 2nd Best In SEC

South Carolina landed 70 student-athletes on the 2013-14 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced today. The Gamecocks ranked second in the 14-member conference, behind Georgia’s 85. Auburn stood third with 62, while Kentucky ranks fourth with 61.
