USC Tops Florida 4-1 Friday

Fourth-ranked South Carolina erased a one-run deficit with three runs in the bottom of the fifth including a two-run single from Grayson Greiner and added an insurance run in the eighth inning on the way to a 4-1 victory over 13th-ranked Florida.

USC Hosts Big Series With Gators

SEC Eastern Division leaders meet this weekend at Carolina Stadium as South Carolina (27-5, 7-5 SEC) hosts Florida (21-12, 7-5 SEC) for a three-game series. First pitch for the opener on Friday is 7 p.m. with Saturday’s contest at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s series finale scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Carolina Cruises By Furman 9-2

Fourth ranked South Carolina belted out 14 hits including a three-run homer by Kyle Martin on the way to a 9-2 victory vs. Furman on Tuesday evening in non-conference action at Fluor Field. The Gamecocks are now 27-5 with Furman dropping to 11-22 for the season.

Georgia Tops Tigers 6-2

Hunter Cole went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs to lead Georgia to a 6-2 win over No. 14 Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs (19-13-1) evened the home-and-home series with the Tigers (20-12), who defeated Georgia 16-4 in Athens on March 25. Each of the last seven meetings in the series from 2011-14 have been won by the visiting team.

Spurrier:Thompson To Play Half Of Spring Game

“We’ll let some of the older guys play a little bit,” said the Head Ball Coach of Saturday’s scrimmage. “Dylan (Thompson) will probably play at least a half. It should be a fun day here at Williams-Brice Stadium. We’re looking forward to a good game. Hopefully nobody will get hurt.
