USC Splits Doubleheader At Arkansas

Arkansas took advantage of three Gamecock errors to score three unearned runs and left-hander Jalen Beeks pitched a complete game allowing just four hits as the Razorbacks defeated top ranked South Carolina 4-1 on Friday night in the second game of a doubleheader.

USC Counting On Veteran Offensive Line

The Gamecock offensive line is expected to be one of the strengths of the squad in 2014. If the season opened today, O-line coach Shawn Elliott said his starting five would include left tackle Corey Robinson, left guard A.J. Cann, center Cody Waldrop, right guard Mike Matulis and right tackle Brandon Shell. All five have starting experience.

Wilson Headlines All-American Game

Heathwood Hall prep star A’ja Wilson headlined Wednesday night’s McDonald’s All-American girls basketball game at the United Center in Chicago. Wilson scored 10 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 4 shots, but her East team lost 80-78 to the West.

Gamecocks Go To Arkansas

South Carolina (25-3, 6-3 SEC) continues conference play this week with a three-game series at Arkansas (18-11, 4-5 SEC). First pitch for the opener on Thursday is 8 p.m. ET with the game televised live on ESPNU. Game two of the series is Friday at 7:35 p.m. ET. Saturday’s series finale will be televised on Cox Sports Television and is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. All three games can also be heard on the Gamecock IMG Network including flagship station, 107.5 FM, “The Game.”

Clemson Gets 4-2 Win Against Winthrop

The No. 15 Clemson Tigers scored four runs in the fifth inning to defeat Winthrop 4-2 Wednesday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Tigers (19-9), who won their fifth game in a row, recorded the victory over the Eagles (14-17), led by former Clemson Assistant Coach Tom Riginos (2003-10).
