Mitchell Makes AP All-American Third Team

South Carolina sophomore guard Tiffany Mitchell earned Third-Team All-America honors from the Associated Press today, making her the first Gamecock to hold All-America status since 2003. Junior forward Aleighsa Welch was named honorable mention by the AP for her standout season as well. The duo helped the Gamecocks to the most productive regular season in school history and the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Smoak Leads Mariners To Opening Day Win

Former Gamecock Justin Smoak hit a three-run homer and Dustin Ackley had a three-run triple while the Mariners batted around in the ninth inning, roaring back from an early two-run deficit for their eighth straight victory on opening day, 10-3 over the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night.

USC Baseball Hosts Appalachian St.

South Carolina (24-3) returns to action vs. Appalachian State on Tuesday (8-16) with first pitch at 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium. Open Season On Clemson QBs At Scrimmage

In his sixth full season as Clemson Head Coach, Dabo Swinney did something Monday he had never done previously. He held a scrimmage where his defense was free to tackle the quarterback. No purple jerseys, everything was “live.”

Bradley Back With Boston On Opening Day

After losing out on the starting center field job in spring training to Grady Sizemore and being optioned to AAA Pawtucket, former Gamecock Jackie Bradley Jr. ended up in the Boston Red Sox lineup on Opening Day for the second season after all.
