Clemson Signee Named Parade All-American

Class of 2014 signee Gabe DeVoe (Shelby, N.C.) was named to the 58th annual Parade All-America boys basketball team announced over the weekend. DeVoe is the fifth Clemson signee in history to earn the distinction, joining Skip Wise (’74), Clarke Bynum (’80), Sharone Wright (’91) and Milton Jennings (’09).

Ga Southern Spanks Clemson 14-5

Georgia Southern scored in six of the first seven innings to defeat No. 13 Clemson 14-5 at J.I. Clements Stadium Tuesday night. It was the first meeting between Georgia Southern (17-4) and Clemson (12-7) in Statesboro since 1995.

4 Gamecocks Highlight AP All-SEC Awards

Honors continued to roll in for South Carolina with two of three individual awards and a conference-leading three All-SEC recognitions from the Associated Press, as announced by the organization today. Head coach Dawn Staley was the unanimous selection for Coach of the Year, the second Gamecock leader to earn the award. Sophomore guard Tiffany Mitchell became just the third in school history and the first since Jocelyn Penn in 2003 to garner an AP All-SEC First Team nod. Mitchell was the AP’s only unanimous All-SEC selection. Alaina Coates captured the second Newcomer of the Year honor in South Carolina history; both recognitions have come under Staley’s tutelage.

Newberry Releases 2014 Football Schedule

Newberry College and head football coach Todd Knight have released the Wolves’ 2014 playing schedule. Newberry will host five home games at historic Setzler Field in the 101st season of intercollegiate football for the scarlet and gray.

MEAC Recognizes Outgoing SC State A.D.

South Carolina State athletics director Charlene M. Johnson was recognized Saturday (Mar. 15) by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference for over twenty (20) -years of service to the Delegate Assembly during the recent MEAC basketball tournament at The Scope.
