USC Softball Takes NCAA Regional Opener

Junior designated player Ashlyn Masters drove in all six Gamecock runs, including coming through in the seventh, as South Carolina (33-23) downed Houston (40-19) in the first game of the Austin Regional in the 2013 NCAA Tournament at Red & Charlene McCombs Field.

Clemson Falls To 12th In Tempe Regional

Clemson sophomore Billy Kennerly recorded a one-under-par 69, his fourth consecutive round in the 60s over two tournaments, but his teammates were a combined 15-over-par in the second round and the team dropped eight spots in the standings. The Tigers are in 12th place after 36 holes and find themselves 16 shots off the cutline entering Saturday’s final round.

USC Golf 2nd After Regional 1st Round

Led by a career-low 68 (-3) from freshman Will Starke, the 20th-ranked South Carolina men’s golf team wrapped up the opening round of the NCAA Columbus Regional in second place on Thursday as it posted a 288 (+4) at the Ohio State University Golf Club.

Tiger Golf 4th After Regional 1st Round

Freshman Stephen Behr and sophomore Billy Kennerly both had rounds of two-under-par 68 to lead Clemson to an even par team score (280) and a tie for fourth place after the first round of the Tempe Regional at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, AZ on Thursday. The Tigers are tied for fourth in the 14-team field and must finish in the top five to advance to the NCAA Championship Tournament in Alpharetta, GA on two weeks.

USC Blows Late Lead, Miss St. Takes Opener

After 12th ranked South Carolina built a 4-1 lead, 16th ranked Mississippi State struck with four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning including a two-out bases loaded walk to Brett Pirtle that scored Nick Ammirati as the Bulldogs defeated the Gamecocks 5-4 on Thursday night in a game one of a three-game SEC series. The Gamecocks are now 38-15 and 16-11 in the SEC with Mississippi State 39-15 and 15-13 in league play.

Clemson Opens FSU Series With 8-2 Win

Sophomore righthander Daniel Gossett pitched 6.0 scoreless innings to lead #14 Clemson to an 8-2 win over #8 Florida State in front of 5,053 fans at Dick Howser Stadium on Thursday night. The Tigers, who took a 1-0 lead in the series and won their ninth game in a row, improved to 39-15 overall and 18-10 in the ACC. The Seminoles dropped to 42-11 overall and 18-10 in ACC play.
